In January 2023, our family-friend, Kurt Miller, reached out to staff at Lost Tavern Brewing to inquire about brewing a beer in honor of Shane. Kurt shared our vision and eventually got in touch with a Lost Tavern employee who happened to be one of Shane's childhood friends, Evan Holland.

With the help of Evan and another LT employee, Kenny, we finalized a flavor profile and some important dates such as Brew Day and the day the beers would be packaged.

After discussions about names and label styles, the beers were officially scheduled to be packaged on March 31, 2023, allowing us to plan a release date between mid and late April. Lost Tavern generously invited those who were willing and able from the SI4S team to witness the Brew Day process in person!

Once the beer was brewing on schedule, plans for the beer launch took shape. We settled on April 22 for the event, with catering provided by The Gastrotruck. If you’re in the Lehigh Valley and need a food truck any time soon, definitely check these guys out!!

While events like these make us nervous, knowing that we’ll be talking about Shane and sharing memories a little more than we normally do, they also bring healing and a sense of connection. This event was no different; it left us filled with love and gratitude for Shane and for all of you who continually participate in keeping his spirit alive.
